Always start by diluting Desecticide. Start with the water first, and then add in Desecticide. If you add the water to the Desecticide, you will have foam. There is no need for agitation. Simply mix and spray!
Standard Area Treatment: Mix 6 ounces of Desecticide with 1 gallon water (or 3 ounces with a ½ gallon of water) to treat 250 square feet of coops, stalls, kennels, roosts and nesting areas.
Direct Animal Treatment: Mix 3 ounces with a ½ gallon of water. Mist directly on animals for immediate mite control.
After application, wait until the treated area is completely dry before allowing animals or humans to re-enter. The product poses the highest risk when wet and is safe once dried. When used as directed, Desecticide will not hurt pets, humans, or beneficial insects.
Prevent pets or children from ingesting the product. If Desecticide is ingested, monitor for symptoms such as vomiting, drooling or lethargy, and contact a veterinarian or doctor immediately. Be aware of the potential risks of improper use and always follow instructions to minimize risks. Monitor for symptoms of pesticide poisoning in pets or humans after accidental exposure or ingestion.
Apply to bedding, high-traffic areas and cracks and crevices where pests hide. Safe for use on and around poultry, horses, cattle, swine, goats, sheep, dogs and other animals.
From Darkling Beetles to Comprehensive Mite Control
When we first developed Desecticide, our focus was targeting darkling beetles in poultry operations. However, our customers had different plans. We quickly discovered that producers were reaching for Desecticide as their go-to pet-safe insecticide for a much broader range of applications.
Pet owners can determine the source of pest problems by observing symptoms and pest activity, ensuring they choose the right treatment for their animals.
The real breakthrough came when customers began reporting exceptional results against mites, particularly on chickens and horses. Word spread through the community, and soon we were hearing success stories from owners of ducks, geese, dogs and cats who found Desecticide to be their most effective, safe option for pest control.
This customer-driven discovery transformed Desecticide from a single-purpose beetle control product into the multi-purpose, pet-safe solution you see today. Both individual users and pest control companies have adopted Desecticide for its safety and effectiveness in a variety of settings.
Effective Against Multiple Pests
While excelling at mite control, Desecticide also targets ants, roaches, poultry lice, house flies, stable flies, darkling beetles, fleas, ticks, bed bugs, cockroaches, mosquitoes and other crawling insects.
Desecticide is effective for treating infestations and helps rid your home and animal areas of these pests.
Pet-Friendly Environments

At Southland Organics, we believe that nature offers us solutions to the problems it presents. This is the basis for the inclusion of essential oils in several of our products used by homeowners and farmers alike. Our products that have essential oils as “secret ingredients” are Torched All-Natural Weed Killer, Defender Natural Insecticide, SO Essentials Bug Spray and Desecticide Darkling Beetle Insecticide.
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts obtained via mechanical pressing or steam distillation of plant material. Each oil has unique physical and chemical properties that make them useful in a variety of products for human, animal and plant health. These properties can be anything from scent and color to solubility and polarity. For example, if you or I were to have a headache, rosemary or spearmint essential oil can provide some relief due to their anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Citronella is another example of a well-known and commonly utilized essential oil. Rather than curing headaches, citronella is a strong deterrent for flying insects such as mosquitos.
Essential oils are a powerful tool offered by nature to alleviate some common problems faced by home and farm owners alike. Here at Southland Organics, we choose to use those tools to our advantage to provide you with safe, natural and effective solutions to the problems you face.
In the case of both Desecticide Darkling Beetle Insecticide and Defender Natural Insecticide, oils that are toxic to insects are combined to create two highly effective insecticides. As an added benefit, some of these oils double as an insect repellent.
