Desecticide | Natural Insecticide for Poultry

Always start by diluting Desecticide. Start with the water first, and then add in Desecticide. If you add the water to the Desecticide, you will have foam. There is no need for agitation. Simply mix and spray!
For commercial poultry growers, mix 1 gallon of Desecticide with 10 gallons of water to cover 5,000 square feet. For a 20,000 square foot house, mix 4 gallons of product with 40 gallons of water.
For backyard or small scale applications, mix 6 oz. of Desecticide with a ½ gallon of water to cover 250 square feet.
Since Desecticide kills on contact, you can apply it whenever you begin to see a pest problem, like nymphs or eggs. Reapply Desecticide whenever bugs are present.
A Responsible, Flexible, Effective and Stress-free Solution
Desecticide is highly effective and yet completely non-toxic for humans and flocks. This insecticide uses breakthrough technology to target neurological receptors active only in insects and arthropods to kill resistant darkling beetles, lesser mealworms, bed bugs, mites, fleas and ticks on chickens, ducks and turkey—without the use of toxic chemicals. It is proven effective and safe to use in poultry facilities, even when birds are present.
There is no re-entry wait time or re-application limit, and it is safe for the environment. Desecticide significantly outperforms the competition and is less expensive to use than the leading brand. Beetles have become resistant to the current pesticides, requiring constant pesticide rotation. But, with Desecticide, bugs do not build resistance, and it can be used at any point during grow-out.
Desecticide is an all-natural solution for darkling beetle control. We’d love to tell you that it’s organic (because it is), but certifiers do not even provide organic certifications for insecticides. They just assume they are all the same chemically-driven, environmentally unsound products. Evidently, they haven’t met Desecticide.
Desecticide can be applied at any point during, and multiple times throughout the grow-out. Best of all, you, the grower, can apply Desecticide! That means no waiting on a specialist for an application. You see a problem; you solve a problem!
Plus, you can apply Desecticide with our Litter Life Poultry Litter Treatment at the same time. The products simply need to be applied in separate sprayers.
Within 24 hours Desecticide will solve your darkling beetle problem. However, Desecticide doesn’t just eliminate darkling beetles—it has been shown to be effective against several other insects as well.
Desecticide is a no resistance/no rotation solution. This means the bugs don’t build up any resistance, and you don’t have to remember which product to apply next. Desecticide, darkling beetle control is all you need...every time!

At Southland Organics, we believe that nature offers us solutions to the problems it presents. This is the basis for the inclusion of essential oils in several of our products used by homeowners and farmers alike. Our products that have essential oils as “secret ingredients” are Torched All-Natural Weed Killer, Defender Natural Insecticide, SO Essentials Bug Spray and Desecticide Darkling Beetle Insecticide.
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts obtained via mechanical pressing or steam distillation of plant material. Each oil has unique physical and chemical properties that make them useful in a variety of products for human, animal and plant health. These properties can be anything from scent and color to solubility and polarity. For example, if you or I were to have a headache, rosemary or spearmint essential oil can provide some relief due to their anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Citronella is another example of a well-known and commonly utilized essential oil. Rather than curing headaches, citronella is a strong deterrent for flying insects such as mosquitos.
Essential oils are a powerful tool offered by nature to alleviate some common problems faced by home and farm owners alike. Here at Southland Organics, we choose to use those tools to our advantage to provide you with safe, natural and effective solutions to the problems you face.
In the case of both Desecticide Darkling Beetle Insecticide and Defender Natural Insecticide, oils that are toxic to insects are combined to create two highly effective insecticides. As an added benefit, some of these oils double as an insect repellent.
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. They are powerfully fragrant and are non water-based phytochemical made up of volatile aromatic compounds. Although they are fat soluble, they do not include fatty lipids or acids found in vegetable and animal oils, so they are very clean, almost crisp, to the touch and are immediately absorbed by the skin. Pure, unadulterated essential oils are translucent and range in color from crystal clear to deep blue. They are usually prepared by techniques such as steam distillation, cold pressing or solvent extraction. We use essential oils in Desecticide, Defender, Torched and SO Essentials Insect Repellent.
Yes, Desecticide is made with an essential oil blend that is safe to use around birds. If needed, it can be directly sprayed on birds to kill mites.
Defender and Desecticide will kill honey bees if they are contacted directly. Any pollinator or flying insect will likely die if they are sprayed directly. You do not need to be concerned with honey bees and other pollinators when you are treating the landscape in general. The bees will fly away from the area as they can quickly detect the essential oils. The oils will dry very quickly and will become harmless to the bees. The bees will understand this and return. We also put Geraniol in our products. Geraniol is proven to attract pollinators. Therefore, you get great results with undesirable insects dying and pollinators being attracted back to the area.
