How To Mix
Shake well before use. Torched is made from natural ingredients and could clump in cold weather.
Dilute by 8–10 oz per gallon of water. Pour the diluted mixture into a sprayer, spray bottle or dilute through a hose end sprayer.
How to Apply
If you're using a hose end sprayer, set the sprayer nozzle to “spray” setting, and hold the nozzle 6 inches away from the area to be treated.
Cover the area and the entire plant with spray directly but not to the point of run-off.
Re-treat hard-to-kill weeds after five days if needed. Torched Weed Killer can be used to treat the ground to stunt weed growth and for further weed control and to prevent weeds. While Torched is natural product that is non-toxic, non-residual and safe for your soil, there is evidence that it stunts future growth for 20 days after application. We do not claim that the mixture works on roots and advise in general not to over drench the soil.
The solution is ideal to apply to garden weeds, perennial weeds, weed seeds and small weeds.
Protect desirable plants during application by shielding them with cardboard or plastic. If desirable plants are accidentally sprayed, immediately rinse the plants and surrounding area with large amounts of water.
When to Use
Apply when weeds are actively growing.
For best results, apply during a warm (above 60°F), sunny day.
Spray only when the air is calm to prevent drift to desirable weeds.
Re-treat if it rains within 24 hours of spraying.

At Southland Organics, we believe that nature offers us solutions to the problems it presents. This is the basis for the inclusion of essential oils in several of our products used by homeowners and farmers alike. Our products that have essential oils as “secret ingredients” are Torched All-Natural Weed Killer, Defender Natural Insecticide, SO Essentials Bug Spray and Desecticide Darkling Beetle Insecticide.
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts obtained via mechanical pressing or steam distillation of plant material. Each oil has unique physical and chemical properties that make them useful in a variety of products for human, animal and plant health. These properties can be anything from scent and color to solubility and polarity. For example, if you or I were to have a headache, rosemary or spearmint essential oil can provide some relief due to their anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Citronella is another example of a well-known and commonly utilized essential oil. Rather than curing headaches, citronella is a strong deterrent for flying insects such as mosquitos.
Essential oils are a powerful tool offered by nature to alleviate some common problems faced by home and farm owners alike. Here at Southland Organics, we choose to use those tools to our advantage to provide you with safe, natural, and effective solutions to the problems you face.
Southland Organics products contain proprietary blends of essential oils suited for their specific purpose. Torched All-Natural Weed Killer contains several oils selected due to their ability to damage the exterior of plant foliage. This begins to kill the plant and makes it possible for other ingredients to infiltrate and cause maximum damage.
It’s been one day and Torched Weed Killer does not seem to have taken effect. Why isn’t it working?
It is working! Torched takes a little bit more time to take effect than conventional weed killers. While these products may seem to have instant impacts, they wash away quickly and contain harmful chemicals, making them a short-term solutions that are not completely safe for your family, pets and wildlife. Torched uses surfactants and oils to get into the physical plant and kill it from the inside- providing a long-term, safe solution. Torched gets added benefits from the sun, so if you sprayed Torched on a colder, cloudy day, give it a bit more time to work its magic.
Does Torched need a "sticker" (that is, a separate chemical to help it bind to the plant)?
Nope! Torched has a highly effective, non-selective formula that can be used alone.
What all does Torched Weed Killer kill?
Torched kills grass, weeds and any other plant it is sprayed on. Expect any vegetation you spray this product on to be, well, torched! However, people, pets and other wildlife are completely safe around Torched and will not be harmed if they come into contact with an area on which Torched has been sprayed.
Is Torched Weed Killer safe for bees and other pollinators?
Yes! The chemicals in Torched attack the roots of unwanted plants and do not linger or bioaccumulate in the area in which they are applied. Once your unwanted plants are gone, Torched is gone! Other organisms, pets and children are completely safe around Torched.
Is it safe to spray Torched Weed Killer around my chicken coop?
Yes, Torched Weed Killer is made with essential oils and can be safely sprayed around your coop.
I mixed a batch and did not use it all, will it store safely?
Yes, Since Torched is a natural is will store safely. Simply seal the nozzle and you can reuse any leftover weed killer.
How does Torched work?
The science is simple really. Weed killers work by dehydrating weeds, plants and unwanted vegetation. They do this by removing the waxy protective coat. This coat is what seals in water in the phyllosphere (the part above ground). Homemade weed killers such as white vinegar, lemon juice based recipes and even boiling water aim to do the same thing. The white vinegar strips the waxy coat and as the sun begins to beat down we see a loss of moisture. Torched was carefully crafted to be safe for the soil bacteria, ground and roots while also being much more effective than homemade remedies for weeds.
After spraying Torched Weed Killer, how long should I wait before I can plant where I sprayed?
You can begin to plant two weeks after your initial application of Torched. If you experience heavy rainfall, you can plant directly after that if Torched has already achieved your desired result. If you experience heavy rainfall before the desired results, you may need to apply Torched again.
Can Torched be used with other weed killers and weed preventions?
Since Torched is an all-natural product we see no reason for it not to be used with other products. Killing weeds is a challenging undertaking.
Can Torched be used on my lawn?
We all want the perfect lawn! However, Torched is non-selective, meaning that it kills any plant that it touches. We do not advise spraying your lawn or ground covers unless you are trying to use Torched as a burn down. Torched is ideal to use in the garden and around fence lines and flower beds. It is a very effective kill against most all weeds and unwanted vegetation.
Often homeowners and organic professionals seek the use of corn meal and corn gluten as a weed prevention method in lawns. Corn gluten has shown some promising effects on weed seeds. However, using Torched on your lawn and garden for unwanted vegetation prevention is more effective than corn-based corn remedies.
How does Torched Weed Killer stack up to homemade weed killers?
Homemade weed killers have their place, but are often more dangerous and more toxic than people realize. Typical homemade weed killer recipes are based on vinegar solution, boiling water, stronger acetic acid, lemon juice and liquid dish soap.
Vinegar and acetic acid should only be used under safety precautions. Vinegar is a great multipurpose product, but regular white vinegar solution is typically too weak to do much damage to plants. 5% vinegar works, but you need to get 8% vinegar or higher to really make an effective weed killer. High percentage vinegar should be dealt with extreme caution and you should always wear protective gear.
Boiling water is simple, but requires much more time and risk than spraying a concentrate like ours. Why boil water and walk back and forth from your kitchen to your garden when you can just spray one product on your garden or yard's soil?
We truly appreciate homemade weed killers, but in order to be effective and kill weeds the acetic acid concentration has to be really high and at that point the cost might not justify the added risk. We urge you to be careful and use protective gear if you decide to attempt to make your own formula to kill weeds.
When should I apply Torched Natural Weed Killer?
For an efficient application, it is better to wait for a day that is bright, warm and clear. On sunny days, Torched weed killer has the best chance of taking effect quickly. Generally, you will find leaves of weed becoming brown within a few days. The leaves should darken and gradually wither. After a week or two, Torched will make anything it is sprayed on look like scorched earth.
For absolutely the best results, apply when weeds are actively growing. Apply during a warm (above 60°F), sunny day. Spray only when the air is calm to prevent drift to desirable weeds. Re-treat if it rains within 24 hours of spraying.
